Logo design
HyStorPor is a £1.4m research project to investigate hydrogen storage in the subsurface as part of the UK's future low-carbon energy mix.
Ran by SCCS, the HyStorPor team required a logo paired with an infographic to launch the project. The infographic had to show the technical storage and recovery process of hydrogen and communicate it clearly.
The logo was to be used as a project identifier and didn’t need an accompanying identity.
The Infographic
A simple infographic was developed showing a slice of the earth with pipelines reaching the level of porous rock. On the surface level a small hydrogen scene was added with wind turbines and processing facilities. The diagram was position next to the projects key points to become the cornerstone image of the project.
The Logo
The core focus of this research initiative revolved around the infographic, leading to the development of a logo crafted from elements mirroring the sliced form depicted in the infographic. This deliberate alignment between the research diagram and the logo established a potent connection, imprinting a lasting impression of the project within stakeholders' memory.
